We are a London based alternative asset management firm offering a comprehensive range of funds of hedge funds and single manager hedge fund products, as well as customised portfolio management for a range of private wealth management groups, family offices, insurance companies, banks and both public and private pension funds.
Since 1996, Fortune and its subsidiary company, Global Fund Analysis (GFA), have been pre-eminent names in manager selection and fund evaluation in the alternatives arena. Since 1996, Fortune has provided hedge fund recommendations to over 1200 institutional clients. In addition to our proprietary fund of funds, Fortune serves as an advisor to institutions and family offices looking to build segregated multi-manager specific portfolios.
The GFA platform provides access to an investable universe of over 200 hedge funds selected by our investment team as a integral function of the fund management process, applying the same exacting investment disciplines of detailed manager evaluation and due diligence that has been the hallmark of Global Fund Analysis (GFA) since 1996. Housed within a sophisticated and fully integrated web-based ASP, GFA enables our clients to combine in a single operating environment manager selection, portfolio construction, risk oversight and manager monitoring in a way that can be specifically tailored to meet their clients' objectives.
Today, Fortune is a member of the Close Brothers Group, an independent merchant banking group founded in the City of London over 125 years ago. The asset management division of the Close Brothers Group manages £9.1 billion of assets (as at 31 July 2007), approximately half of which are invested in alternatives.
Unlike many hedge fund groups, Fortune is a highly regulated firm, authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority in the United Kingdom to provide investment management services and registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as an investment adviser. The firm is staffed with seasoned investment professionals with a vast experience of trading and investing including Nancy Curtin, former head of investments, Schroders and Jack D. Schwager, an industry veteran, whose prolific knowledge of hedge fund strategies has been illustrated in his Market Wizards books as well as Schwager on Futures. A highly qualified team of analysts led by Richard Tarvin, a co-founder of the firm with over 14 years' hedge fund experience, brings additional expertise to the process of selecting funds and running assets.
